As 2012 draws to a close, many people have already made lists of resolutions they plan to fulfill during the oncoming year. I am among them. It's a fresh opportunity to make dreams come true, or "start over"—much like flipping to an empty notebook page. But at the same time it is also important to recognize the great things that have happened or been accomplished over the past twelve months. I finally got to read the first book in A.A. Milne's classic series, Winnie The Pooh. It was a little embarrassing, actually, considering how much my brother and I used to watch Disney's version on television as kids—and how I enjoy diving into the original stories used for beloved films or shows  (as you might have noticed). Has anyone been in the situation where you critiqued the writing of another person, and even though you tried to be gentle as possible, he or she still took it as an attack on his/her writing style? Recently, a fellow writer asked for me to proofread the text in her book. There were a few missing commas (along with some excessive ones), and less than a handful of grammar errors. All of them were easy to fix, and I tried to point them out and give encouragement (because her story really was great). But then she seemed to withdraw and not be nearly as open or friendly as before. What advice would you give in this case? Do you think there is
